Belles mes is an enchanting interlude in a natural setting, populated by birds with strong symbolic meaning. Among them are the titmouse, that colourful creature so familiar to us, and the majestic phoenix, often associated with rebirth. Neighbours without ever crossing paths, these two birds are two sides of the same picture. The motifs are treated in a flat gold leaf technique, and stand out gracefully against a background of branches and bushes in bloom with an etched effect and coloured with gouache. This richly detailed setting is enhanced by the unique texture of our sumptuous linen canvas, framed by black piping.
