Diamond Ikat Pillow by John Robshaw

Ikats are crafted using a unique dyeing technique that gives them their vibrant, colorful patterns. Many of the colors in our Thai ikat pillows are naturally sourced. Skilled artisans extract dyestuffs from the bark, leaves, roots, and seeds of various plants. Once the color is prepared, cotton yarns are carefully tied off in sections before dying. The parts of the yarn that are tied resist the dye, and the untied sections absorb the color. They are then woven to create that distinctive, feathery look of an ikat.
